At a time when creativity is being squeezed out of the education system, there has never been a more important time to focus on creative play to support our children’s positive development.

The Creation Station, the UK’s leading children’s creative experience company, has scooped the top ‘Highly Commended Award’ in the 2015 Creative Play Awards. The Creation Station’s innovative Fun Arty Box is packed with 10 activities and a further 10 ideas to help each child explore their ideas, discover new activities and develop their self-confidence and creativity.

Judith Lancaster, Creative Developer and Head of Communications, at The Creation Station, said:
“We are so delighted to have gained this very prestigious award in recognition of creativity and the ideas in our Fun Arty Box.  We developed F.A.B. in response to a growing demand from families who wanted their children to benefit from more hands-on creative ways to explore, discover and develop. We’ve received wonderful feedback from children and parents and now this award is fabulous news!”

Now in it’s seventh year, the Creative Play Awards are sponsored and organised by Creative Steps magazine, a publication for adults which promotes creative play as part of a child’s development.

Create Club Approval from the Big Apple

In Create Club this term we are being inspired by some awesome artists, with works by famous names such as Matisse, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol. Whilst developing our Awesome Art Inspired by Amazing Artists programme, I came across an artist called Borbay, who is based in New York. He does phenomenal collage art, including portraits.

A collection of works by one of our Awesome Artists – Borbay

Borbay has had an array of creative jobs, beginning work as a Graphic Designer in Boston, and turning his hand to stand-up comedy and producing, he also worked his way up to Business Director of an advertising firm.

He currently enjoys the freedom of a Professional Artist residing in Manhatten. The span of his career shows how inspirational creativity is across different disciplines and the doors it opens.

I wrote to him and asked if we could share his images with our children to show them some great techniques. Below is his response:
