I was in banking before and so it was a big step for me – I like to weigh up all the pros cons and make very careful decisions. The Creation Station head office team are fantastic and really supportive.  There are so many revenue streams with lots of potential and my business keeps getting better and better.  I feel I’ve joined an extended family as I’m part of a wonderful team who support and help each other with all sorts of things! Creation Station Scoops 5 Star Satisfaction Award And Best Improvement Award 2016

At The Best Franchise Awards ran by Smith & Henderson and sponsored by RBS, The Creation Station scooped two prestigious awards, the 5 Star satisfaction award and the  Award For Continuous Improvement.

The 5 Star Satisfaction award is based on an independent and anonymous survey of The  Creation Station franchise owners. The Creation Station’s commitment to regular and on-going developments gained them the Continuous Improvement Award.

Sarah Cressall Managing Director and Founder of Creation Station said,

“I am thrilled to have gained both awards. I understand the importance of listening and responding to our team of Franchise owners and striving to exceed our customer expectations as well as maximizing new business opportunities. We now inspire over 12,500 children and families per week through our classes, parties and events and we couldn’t do this with our great team of franchise owners and our Creative Hub head office team. My thanks go to all our franchise owners, our head office team and the team at Smith and Henderson for their on-going support to help us all make a positive difference to others.”

The Best Franchise Awards sponsored by RBS,  are unique because they based on the satisfaction of current franchisees.  Franchisees are asked to rate their franchisor on everything from training and support, to shared goals and how the experience of being a franchisee has compared with their expectations. This genuine recommendation by existing franchisees is a powerful marketing tool for winners, as it demonstrates a genuine testimonial from people living and working within their brand every day.

Steven Frost, CEO of Smith and Henderson said,

“We would like to congratulate The Creation Station on gaining these two prestigious awards.  What makes these awards unique is they are based on feedback from the real experts, thousands of actual franchisees. 2016 had a record number of entries into the awards with the winners recording record levels of franchisee satisfaction.”

Creation Station Gains Gold Standard for Compliance with the Children’s Activity Association

Ensuring high standards in safety, quality, delivery, and programme development is fundamental to The Creation Station Ltd. Its commitment to ensuring high standards are maintained, has gained it the prestigious Gold accreditation standard in the Children’s Activity Association.

As the leading children’s arts and crafts creative activity company, The Creation Station delivers all its experiences to a professional code of conduct.

“Our high standards are essential to provide children with fun, safe, and enjoyable opportunities to explore, discover and develop and to give parents peace of mind for their child,” states Sarah Cressall, Founder, and Managing Director of The Creation Station.

To ensure standards are met and maintained, Creation Station franchise owners undertake a five-day training course, covering operational, marketing and business modules including practical hands-on experience of running the activities, health and safety, customer care, marketing, and sales.

  • The focus of all the activities is not on ‘what we make’ but ‘how we make people feel’. The customer service approach is therefore focussed on helping each child explore, discover and develop in a way that sparks their natural curiosity at a rate and pace that suits them.
  • All the activities are comprehensively documented and checked by health and safety experts.

Feedback and reviews take place weekly with updates being incorporated when required. This ensures any changes or new information can be quickly acted upon and communicated to the team via email, video, or phone calls.

  • All products used in the activities are sourced from The Creation Station central warehouse or from nominated suppliers. This ensures that appropriate products are being use in the classes, parties, and events and the correct health and safety data sheets are available and allergen warnings are available.
  • During the pre-school, Little Explorer, and Baby Discover classes washable Crayola paint is used and full body splashsuits are provided for children, to make washing hands at the end easier for parents.
  • The programme is developed in line with the government Early Years Foundation Stage and helps to build a wide range of essential life skills including colour, texture and shape recognition, fine motor skills, social skills, problem-solving, and confidence building.73creationstation160426matt-austin

Since 2002, over 250,000 children and families have been involved in a Creation Station arts and crafts activity. Activities have been rated five stars on Trustpilot and in an independent franchise satisfaction survey, The Creation Station franchise was rated five stars.

The Children’s Activity Association gives parents a benchmark for all organised children’s activities by establishing and improving consistent standards and accreditation.

To achieve Gold accreditation membership, companies must complete five accreditation modules covering compliance, training, customer service, programme, and delivery. All policies are checked (including evidence) by the independent accrediting organisation, Fundamentally Children led by Dr Amanda Gummer PhD. This is a significant achievement and the only independent accreditation for children’s activities in the UK.

Top tips to settle children into school or nursery

Three arty ideas for helping your little one to settle at school or nursery.

create club outside

How’s life treating you? Gently, I hope.

This morning, as I made my way through the school gate, I saw a mum leaving, head down, walking quickly. She was clearly on the verge of tears. She had just left her child, screaming and crying because he didn’t want mummy to leave.

My heart went out to her. I suffered with her, as I remembered similar experiences of my own.

I’m in this situation too. My little one is settling into reception class. I’m currently trying to manage the leg-clinging and pleas of ‘don’t go mummy’.

But I have to, as I’m settling in too.

I have a new full-time job.

This job.

I’m the Content and Social Media Executive at the Creation Station.

Let me introduce myself, I’m Becky – a mum to two incredible boys. My background is working in children’s TV at the BBC. I was fortunate enough to work on Blue Peter for six years, creating makes, booking celebrities, and filming videos. I worked with all kinds of guests from jaguars to JK Rowling.

I feel very lucky, after moving to Devon a few years ago, to have finally landed on my feet at The Creation Station. I’m looking forward to using my talents to help inspire and nurture your child’s potential.

Becky O’Reilly –  Content and Social Media Executive

Three top tips

If like me, your child is going through a settling in period, it may be helpful for your child to explore their feelings, while doing some simple arts and crafts. We’ve come up with three ideas to help children connect with emotions they may not be able to express in words.

These activities work well if you focus on process, rather than the end result. It may be helpful to purely describe what you see, rather than comment on whether it’s good/bad.

  1. Get it down on paper

Provide your child with plenty of paper and old crayons or pens. Ask them to draw a picture of how they feel when mummy has to leave school or nursery. Don’t be precious about the crayons or pens. They may make holes in the paper, tear it into pieces, scribble hard, stub the nibs and break crayons. Alternatively, they may draw a picture of a sad heart, depending upon their feelings.

  1. Set them free with clay

This is particularly useful if you have children that hit or bite other children at nursery or school, as they struggle with settling. Ask them how they feel when they want to hit or bite. They may feel the need to squish clay – hard.  They can pinch, snip, tear and pummel the clay. Because of the resistance clay has, it’s a great material to use for this type of activity.

  1. Snip it up, stick it down

If your child can use scissors, they may want to snip up paper, lots of it. This paper can then be used for gluing to create a picture that shows how they feel about school drop off.

These may not be art and crafts for display, but they’ll allow your children to explore and discharge feelings they otherwise may not express, helping them to be happier and settle in faster.

The simple things can take so much longer.

If you’ve struggled to get back into the routine after the summer holidays, you’re not alone.

We love these creative late notes from Seth King, a father who struggles to get his kids to school on time.
